There are seasons when you can spend years moving without realizing how tired you have become.
“Didn’t Want to Leave” came from the collision between hunger, ambition, regret, faith and the realization that some of the things we chase cannot give us what we thought they would.
The song admits the contradiction instead of cleaning it up: “I wanted the crown but resisted the weight.”
It moves from searching for love and purpose in the wrong places toward the cross, redemption and the possibility of breathing differently.
At its heart, it is not a song about arriving. It is about realizing you were being called home before you even knew how far you had wandered.
The Live Version lets that testimony stand in the open rather than treating it like something that has to be hidden or perfected.

Didn’t Want to Leave: When the Search for Purpose Finally Led to the Cross
“Didn’t Want to Leave” came from looking back at a life spent chasing purpose, recognition, and something strong enough to quiet the hunger inside me. It is the sound of realizing that I had been searching for rest everywhere except surrender—and that I didn’t want my final breath to become the first time I truly believed.
